The great Islandese coach, a man who won with Magdeburg all that could be won, while with THW Kiel he only has the Champions League left to conquer, Alfred Gislasson, extended his contract with the 'Zebras', which means he will remain in Kiel until 2014. With this move, the club proved its intention to work with Gislasson on a longer period, and the time Gislasson spent in Kiel probably means that there will be much more successes there.
- I'm really happy that I will be able to work in Kiel for a longer time. Kiel in Germany is, and in the world too, a unique club. There is no better handball club. And from my side there were no conditions, that would be point that I do not wish to continue my work here.

Prošle su tri godine od kako je sa radom krenuo Balkan-Handball. Kada sam te zime, koja je donela fenomenalno Svetsko prvenstvo u Nemačkoj, koje je samo nekolicina upijala preko HRT-a i DSF-a, a u Srbiji "mrkli mrak", nakon priča o nameštanjima, odlazaka igrača iz reprezentacije, debakla od Čeha, doneo odluku da devet meseci "gubljenja vremena" u formi vojnog roka, provedem, tako što ću spojiti dve ljubavi - pisanje i rukomet, zvučao sam smešno, i sebi, i drugima. Tih dana niko nije pisao o rukometu, o njemu se nije govorilo ili jeste, sa pljuvačkom i psovkom. To je bio bivši sport za Srbiju.
