The final of the Junior European Championship justified the expectations, with both sides playing fantastic handball. In the clash between the two teams that showed the most during the tournament, Norway emerged as winners with 30:27. For the Norwegians the topscorer was Amandra Kurtovic scoring 10 goals, while for the Hungarians Aniko Kovaczicz with 8 goals.
The first half was marked by constant change of leads between the teams. The Hungarians led at the beginning (3:1, 6th minute), but the Norwegians girls managed to neutralise their lead, and both teams were equal during this part of the game. Biggest threat for the Norwegian 5-1 defence was the player of Gyor, Kovaczicz, who scored 6 goals in the first half. The Norwegian team was carried by Kurtovic, Mork and the goalkeeper Solberg. The Hungarian team however went to the halftime with 16:15 lead.
In the beginning of the second part the good play and close score was kept. The Hungarian team couldn't count on Sandra Zaczik in most of the 2nd half, after she got injured only 6 minutes after the halftime break. On the goal for Norway came Rundbraten which managed to make 5 saves in 5 minutes, and helped her team make fast counterattacks. The Norwegian girls also better used situations when they had a player less, while the Hungarians were shooting from hard positions. This helped the Norwegians make 4-1 run, and get 19-17 lead. The home players still managed to keep the score close, but from 46th minute, the Norwegians made a good run, and made it 28-24 in their advantage. Hungarians managed to get as close as 27-29, but when Zaczik in one of the last attacks hit the post, it was well known that the title is going to the north of Europe. Afterwards, Norway scored one more goal and settled the final score, 30-27.
