Almost all national teams are deep in there preparations for World Championship in Croatia while my country, Slovenia, will miss this big tournament. As everything else in our lives, also that has good and bad sides.
After many years I will be finally able to enjoy in handball without stress. It will be completely different for me as it will happen for the first time in six years to just watch matches and not working. A different perspective! Without obligations and bothering! When Slovenia was participating it was always lot of work before, during and after tournament. And always questions or speculations on winning or losing.
On the other side, it will be sad not being there for the whole period. Specially, everyone in Slovenia was expecting a lot from World Championship that takes place in our neighbourhood. But it happened last summer. Slovenia failed to defeat Slovakia in qualification. Strange, we have so many players in national team playing in the best world clubs … I think we will get aware what kind of misstep was this after 16th February. Strange things were happening in Slovenian handball in year 2008 and I hope it will be better this year. Nevertheless, I am looking forward to World Championship! I will bet on France and wait for some surprises!
