Balkan-Handball.com made interview with the new rightback from HSG Duesseldorf, young Croat, Nikola Kedzo (21 – 205cm/106kg), in front of the match with TBV Lemgo.

Hello, Nikola. You are injured, how is your shoulder?

– On Monday, I can start to train with the team. So I hope it will be okay, but I have to start step by step.

How are your first impressions from Duesseldorf and the team?

– I am really excited to be in Bundesliga, because here everything is different. In Spain you come in town and the people are not so intrested in handball, there is more popular basketball and football. Her every hall is full, in Spain you see that Ciudad play with Barcelona for 1000 people, her its incredible.

The situation now with the injury at the beginning isn't the best, with Andrej Kurtchev you have a good player on your postion.

– Yes, he is a very good player, but we are different types. He can shoot from the ground and go on one on one. I am the typical shooter, so I think that we both will play, we are like ying and yang.

What you think will be possible with your team in this season, it will be a hard season?

– Yes, cause we are new in Bundesliga, but we trust in the team. We are a young team and I think we can stay in the league. But we have to go out to win in every game. It doesn't matter if you play against Minden or Lemgo.

You have a hard programm for the start, next games are home against Flensburg, than in Goeppingen and than with Magdeburg. You think you can make a small surprise against teams like this?

– Yes, its possible, cause I have seen a game in Spain from Portland San Antonio which lost with 4 or 5 goals against new team in league Toledo, so in handball nothing is unpossible. Why not?!

Before you were in Spain, how comes the contract with Ciudad Real, you went there in young age of 16.

– Yes, I was very, very young and it was difficult to go with 16 years to another country. It was hard, but good.

You were 4 years in Spain, how was that period for you?

– First year, I was in Ciudad Real and in second year they send me to another team which is closed to Ciudad Real, to Alcobendas. They played in second league. In preseason I played very good but in 2. or 3. game, I broke my knee and it was bad, in that year, I couldnt play anything. In the second year in Alcobendas, I also didnt play, cause I had problems with the club. Before the season they want to reduce my money and I dont want to do that cause they signed this contract with me and from this time, I haven't played and coach and guys from club don't speak with me and I want to go. After, I went to Teucro, we had a good team with Ristanovic, Savkovic, Markicevic and Curuvija, but before Christmas, they told us that there is no money and that fix your head and you couldn't play good and we go out of the league.

You made some games for Croatian junior nationalteam. What do you think, you can get a chance in senior squad in the next years?

– Now, there are a lot of good and young players, but I dont know, maybe when I play good and have enough time to play, than it's maybe possible.
