The first leader in German league is the VfL Gummersbach. The team from coach Sead Hasanefendic won the first match versus HSG Duesseldorf with 31:18. 
EHF-Cup Winner Gummersbach had big problems with the team from Duesseldorf, after 10 minutes, Vedran Zrnic scored the first goal for Gummersbach to 1:5. But than Gummersbach played better and was first time leading with 8:7. After the halftime (14:11) it was in interesting match, just after a red card for Duesseldorf in 44. minute Gummersbach was dominated and goes from 20:16 to 29:16. At the end Gummersbach was the better team but it will be interesting to see how long they can stay on the top.
German champion THW Kiel won the first match away versus MT Melsungen. The first season match without Lövgren, Karabatic and Kavticnik was for Kiel a good start. Kiel beeted Melsungen with 35:25 and Momir Ilic scored in first match 3 goals.
The other favorited teams won also there first match.
HSV Hamburg with the new Croatian national players Vori and Duvnjak beat after a hard fight TV Grosswallstadt with 27:24. After first half Grosswallstadt was in own hall with 13:12 in front, but in second half Hamburg was better in game and more concentrated. Vori with 5 and Duvnjak with 4 goals had a good start in Germany.
Rhein-Neckar Löwen beeted TuS-N-Luebbecke 29:23, Croatian goalkeeper Nikola Blazicko could not stop the lost from TuS-N-Luebbecke with his good saves.
